Company is seeking a Senior Application Engineer become a key member of a software engineering team to help design and build an internet platform using Java with a mix of open and closed source technologies. This position provides the opportunity to implement and evaluate the latest tools and technologies. This application platform will be used to deliver media content (video, audio, etc), offer e-commerce and community services, enable dynamic content management and whatever the future needs of the business require.

Our ideal candidate must be a self-starter with strong analytical and problem solving skills and someone who thrives working in a face paced, iterative development environment.

• Report directly to Director of Engineering
• Help to design and develop the application’s core architecture
• Help select tools and technologies to use
• Responsible for full project life cycle
• Participate in design and code reviews with peers
• Work with product management to iron out specifications and requirements

• BS degree required
• 5+ years of software development experience
• 5+ years of experience using RDBMS
• Solid understanding of OO Design and Development
• Expert command of the Java language and core libraries
• Experience working on a large scale web application
• Experience working with a Java web framework (Struts, JSF, Tapestry, etc)
• Experience with CVS (or comparable version control system)
• Experience with both Linux and Windows
• Strong communications skills
• Experience with load balancing and clustering solutions for Java applications
• Experience using and writing ANT scripts
• Experience writing and maintaining JUnit test cases
• Experience with Hibernate, Maven, Portlets, CMS, Jboss, Tomcat, Lucene, JMX or JMS a plus
